SAXOPHONE CLASS

Beginner/Intermediate

Teaching Artist: Kenny Sykes

Introduction:

The student will learn how to play the instrument and manage the instrument to be able to play independently. The student will be able to hear songs and be able to learn the song by ear. Also, students will be able to identify sounds of different instruments, pitch and tone through ear training.  Additionally, students will gain a working knowledge of song structure and performance.

Virtual Classes:

Students will receive an email from their instructor containing Zoom log in information for the class.

Once logged in students will be prompted to stand-by until the instructor allows access to class

SAXOPHONE CLASS SYLLABUS

Class One:

How to play the saxophone, flute, fingering position, embouchure position and  the proper way of blowing into the instrument

 Class Two:

 Getting the proper sound, fingering position, identifying what note keys represent

 Class Three:

 Identifying scales, fingering position, learning the C scale, ear training

 Class Four:

 Reading music, music theory, learn D, E scales

Class Five:

 Learn F, G scales, play first song from Breeze Book 1, continue ear training

 Class Six:

 Learn A, B scales, ear training, play next song from the Breeze Book, mimic tones of instructor, 

 identify lines and space of the staff and note placement and the components of the staff
