Freedom Choir of Philadelphia

The Historic Freedom Choir of Philadelphia was founded by Carolyn Sims-Nesmith as a part of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Philadelphia Chapter, led by the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., in 1968.

In addition to singing gospel, the group embraced its heritage and culture, and uplifted audiences with songs of faith, hope, and inspiration, as well as songs that captured the signs of the times. Freedom Choir has ministered before thousands in major houses from Detroit, Michigan to Tampa, Florida.

This diverse group consists of artists from dancers to set designers and uses all of the skills represented by performing impactful spiritual and cultural productions.
